As part of the acceleration of the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Ensure access to quality education for all, on an equal basis, and promote learning opportunities lifelong, UNESCO supports its Member States, including Haiti, in improving their education statistics systems in order to be able to monitor progress in achieving this objective.
The UNESCO Office in Port-au-Prince through its Capacity Development Program for Education (CapED) and with the support of the UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS) welcomes the progress already accomplished within the framework of capacity building activities, in particular through the creation of new structures (national technical team and others) focused on the creation or strengthening of the national system of education statistics (NSES), the identification of a national indicator framework (NIF), the definition of data mapping, and the evaluation of data quality.
It is within the framework of this program and in the continuity of these capacity building activities, that UNESCO and the Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training in Haiti organize, on July 15, 16 and 17, 2020, a training workshop to support Haitian national institutions and experts in the development of the national strategy for the development of education statistics (NSDSE).
The technical workshop will bring together around thirty participants including the various actors and institutions involved in the management of education statistics in Haiti.
