UNESCO is collaborating with the Ministry of National Planning and Economic Policy of Costa Rica (MIDEPLAN) to highlight culture in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and to make cultural sectors visible as actors of sustainable development. In the framework of these actions, and taking into account that September has been designated "SDGs Month" in Costa Rica, UNESCO has organised the forum "The cross-cutting role of culture in the 2030 Agenda: youth experiences in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals", which seeks to give a voice to young people who have participated - or are currently participating - in initiatives carried out by various institutions in Costa Rica, in partnership with UNESCO, that reflect the relationship between culture and the different areas of sustainable development.
The forum will be an opportunity for young people to present their experiences as participants in four projects implemented in Costa Rica around four thematic axes of sustainable development: territorial development, inclusive and quality education, climate change and inclusive socio-economic growth. This will be followed by a question and answer session. In addition to the young people, there will also be pre-recorded interventions by the authorities of the institutions responsible for the implementation of each project.
The activity will take place online and will be broadcast live on social media.
