Join Think Global, Act Local and meet like-minded people from across Ireland. Together you will explore justice, solidarity, and the Global Goals. You will benefit from continuous mentoring from experienced global justice advocates and have the opportunity to participate in virtual and in-person volunteering opportunities.

 

The programme runs from April to October, delivered over evenings and weekends with the option for a more significant commitment during Summer 2021.

 

Global Citizenship Education and Personal Development Modules that enhance your knowledge and skills, giving you a strong grounding in global issues and how to effectively advocate for positive change.

 

In-person and virtual volunteering opportunities allowing you to connect with and directly support communities in Ireland and in the Global South that are tackling the interlinked challenges of inequality, injustice, and the growing impact of Climate Change.

 

Continuous mentoring from experienced global justice advocates who will guide you on your journey towards becoming a more active and engaged global citizen.

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:

- Attend three online global forums (3 hours long each) between April and June.

- From July to October, you will volunteer, committing a minimum of eight hours over this entire period. You can volunteer locally in Ireland (with an organisation or to develop your own global citizenship action) or virtually with communities in the Global South.

-Participants will attend two reflection sessions (3 hours long each), one in August and one in October.

- Throughout you will engage with your fellow participants regularly, complete individual and group challenges, and be asked to deepen your knowledge through reading, watching videos, and listening to podcasts – nothing too laborious.

- The programme is facilitated using a blended approach of virtual learning modules, interactive workshops, inspiring guest speakers, and micro-challenges to complete in your own time.

 

Skills required for this role:

The programme is open to all above 18 years. The only criteria is a willingness to learn and engage with a group. SERVE will help you identify a volunteer placement that aligns with your skills and the needs of our partner projects.

 

Details of time commitment needed for role:
Main Group Sessions (3 hours long each, via Zoom) - Saturday 10th April - Saturday 29th May - Saturday 19th June - Saturday in August (TBC) - Saturday in October (TBC) - Volunteering commitment between July and October (minimum eight hours over the entire time period). In between the main group sessions you will engage with your fellow participants regularly, complete individual and group challenges, and be asked to deepen your knowledge through reading, watching videos, and listening to podcasts – nothing too laborious.

 

Minimum time commitment per week:
1 hour p/week
