The Korean Ministry of Education (hereinafter MOE Korea) and the Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding under the auspices of UNESCO (hereinafter referred to as APCEIU) have implemented the International Teacher Exchange Programme (hereinafter referred to as the Programme), named ‘Asia-Pacific Teacher Exchange for Global Education (hereinafter to as APTE)’ for the past nine years since 2012 in order to respond to the change of educational environments around the world brought by the increase of migration and interactions across borders and cultures, and to the rising demand from partner countries for sharing teaching experiences of teachers.
The SSAEM (Sharing Stories of the Asia-Pacific Education Movements) conference, which has been held annually since December 2014, provides an excellent opportunity for the Programme participants and stakeholders to showcase the impact of the Programme on the educational innovation and cooperation, and to explore for better quality of the future implementation. The participants’ hands-on experiences of teaching across borders and cultures will unfold in formats including narratives, photos, videos, reports, and so on under the overarching theme of ‘SSAEM or Sharing Stories of the Asia-Pacific Education Movements.’
In 2020, the Online SSAEM Conference will be initially held as a transformative change of the SSAEM Conference in expectation of the borderless participation of the 2012-2019 Programme, rogramme stakeholders, and the educators interested in international teacher exchange in the Asia-Pacific region. Looking forward to the 10th anniversary of the APTE in 2021, we anticipate this conference act as a hub of APTE by sharing the follow-up activities of the alumni and the vision of the Programme for the next years with the Programme stakeholders.
In particular, through a shift from the on-site to online conference, we envision an engaging and meaningful experience for a thousand of APTE alumni on the virtual platform. Even though participants do not physically meet each other, dynamic, interactive, and inclusive conference will consist of presentation sessions and interesting online events. The conference will be live-streamed for days for 24-26 November 2020, and the video of all sessions and online events will be accessible until 30 November 2020.
