that despite advances at policy-level, progress in the fulfilment of the basic right of gender equality in water and sanitation is not on track. Simultaneously, women are underrepresented in terms of employment and participation to water-related decision-making at all levels.

This session, organized at World Water Week, will present the supporting technical publications and the participatory Call for Action, accompanied by a discussion of strategies, good practices, methods and strategies to overcome the challenges posed to gender equalities in the water domain. In particular, high-level representatives of several Member States will convey messages in support of the Initiative.

A repeat session will occur on 25 August (21:00-22:00 CET) , with speakers of different Member States.
