Based on the commitments made at COP27 by governments and other stakeholders, now is time to act and mobilise resources to address the climate crisis in order to prepare every learner to acquire the knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes to tackle climate change and promote sustainable development. This session will address the following questions:

  • What are the main achievements and takeaways on climate change education from COP27?
  • What are the next steps to translate these commitments into action?

This eighth edition closes the first season of the UNESCO-UNFCCC webinars series on climate change education for social transformation. During the previous webinars, one per month from April to October, it was highlighted that green educational policies and curricula need to ensure that every learner is empowered with the knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes to lead the green social transformation. This first season will be followed by a second season next year, focusing on greening every school on the road to COP28.
