Exploring teacher-training tools needed to address anti-Semitism - UNESCO/OSCE joint expert group meeting
Event Date:
Mon, 2018/06/04 - Tue, 2018/06/05
Venue:
Paris, France

UNESCO and the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) organize an expert group meeting to explore teacher-training tools needed to address anti-Semitism. The meeting will bring together experts from various governmental and non-governmental organizations from across the OSCE region, engaged in countering anti-Semitism.

UNESCO and ODIHR are jointly developing education policy guidelines and educational tools, to help policymakers and practitioners address anti-Semitism through education, following a human rights approach. These publications complement UNESCO’s and ODIHR’s existing materials to promote tolerance, human rights, global citizenship and the prevention of violent extremism. For this, ODIHR and UNESCO established an expert group to advise on the direction and content of the education policy guidelines and teaching materials.

Following the launch of the new UNESCO/OSCE co-publication “Addressing anti-Semitism through Education – Guidelines for Policymakers” on 4 June 2018, the expert group will convene for the fourth time to consult on different strategies to promote and disseminate the new guidelines and to draft the structure of the forthcoming framework curricula and accompanying guidance materials for teachers.
