25 years on since the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, and following the recent launch of the 2020 GEM Gender Report, we join the UNESCO GEM Report and the Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) to convene a webinar: 'A new generation: 25 years of efforts for gender equality in education.'
Taking place on Monday 26th October, 13:00 GMT | 16:00 EAT, the webinar will take stock of challenges and opportunities for driving progress in girls’ education and gender equality in sub-Saharan Africa.
Glean insights from youth advocates, alongside female parliamentarians, university leaders, education policymakers, gender specialists and human rights activists from across the region.
Speakers include Yetnebersh Nigussie Molla, Senior Manager for Global Action on Disability (GLAD) Network, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, FAWE Africa Board Chair and Eunice Naffie Mustapha, writer and youth advocate.
Discussions will draw on the findings and recommendations of the 2020 GEM Gender Report and provide insights on regional efforts to tackle barriers to girls’ education.
