High-level side event to mark the World Day Against Child Labour “Act Now: End Child Labour”

Join us for a high-level virtual side event during the International Labour Conference on the occasion of the World Day Against Child Labour.

 

This year, the World Day Against Child Labour will be marked by a high-level virtual side event, organized jointly with UNICEF, during the International Labour Conference (ILC). The first part of the event will focus on a conversation on the newly released ILO-UNICEF global estimates and trends on child labour.

This will be followed by an interactive discussion between high-level speakers and youth advocates on paving the way to 2025, highlighting efforts made to implement International Year “2021 Action Pledges.”  The event will end with the announcement of the winners of the Music Against Child Labour competition by the celebrity jury.

 

Provisional Agenda

Segment 1: New global estimates and trends on child labour, 2016-2020

 

This segment will focus on a discussion around the new global estimates and trends on child labour, beginning with opening remarks on the key findings by the ILO Director-General and the UNICEF Executive Director.


Followed by a discussion with:

 

 

Segment 2: Rising to the challenge, the International Year and the path ahead

 

This segment will focus on the path towards the V Global Conference on Child Labour (2022) and the 2025 SDG goal to end child labour in all its forms. In the context of the International Year, speakers will be invited to highlight action taken in implementing their “2021 Action Pledges.” The discussion will be opened with a keynote address by the President of the Republic of South Africa.

Announcement of the winners of the Music Against Child Labour competition

 

The music competition’s celebrity jury will announce the competition winners, followed by performances by the winning artists.
