On 13 Apr, join us online for our next Strategic Debate: "When crisis meets crisis: refugees’ access to higher education in host countries"!
Providing equal access to education for refugees is a challenge across all school levels, and especially in higher education where only 3% of refugees are enrolled. The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) has set an ambitious target to ensure that 15% of young refugee women and men are enrolled in higher education by 2030. This would have many benefits not only for refugees, but for host countries and their education systems.
What can host countries and their higher education institutions do to facilitate access for refugees? How can barriers such as language, credential recognition, and costs and financing be addressed? What new challenges has COVID-19 created for refugees?
