Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) is recognised as a key instrument to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.  Key principles of Education for Sustainable Development include: imagining a better future, critical thinking and reflection, participation in decision making, working in partnerships, systems thinking, understanding the dynamics of complex adaptive systems, and creating enabling environments for systemic change.

Community Capacity Builders has been delivering Education for Sustainable Development Programs since 2006 and Social Entrepreneurship Programs since 2008.  During this webinar, Community Capacity Builders Program for Systems Social Entrepreneurs will be used as a case study to demonstrate how education for sustainable development principles can be embedded into social entrepreneurship education programs.

Dr Sharon Zivkovic, the CEO of Community Capacity Builders, will present the webinar.  Sharon is passionate about Education for Sustainable Development.  In 2013 she was awarded a Sustainability Champions Scholarship from the Australian Government, and in 2017 she was invited to write a chapter, “How can Education for Sustainability create systemic change”, for the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development series book “Envisioning Futures for Environmental and Sustainability Education”.  In 2018, Sharon received an Environmental Educator of the Year Award from Educators SA.
