The Global Youth Biodiversity Network and UNESCO organize a joint session to discuss the suggestions from young people, living and working in UNESCO designated sites, on the post-2020 global framework for a new deal for people and nature.
This interactive, thematic stream session will address all of the IUCN congress themes. It will focus entirely on the vision, ideas and proposals of youth for meeting the challenges of biodiversity loss and climate change, feeding their inputs to the post 2020 biodiversity framework. Building on their experiences with the UNESCO youth forums they attended (i.e. Man and the Biosphere Youth Forums; World Heritage Youth Forums) or with the UNESCO sites that they have worked with, such as World Heritage Volunteers and young professionals, the youth representatives will share their insights and discuss with a diverse set of panelists (scientific, private and government sectors). The event participants will be invited to vote on the most important proposals to be submitted and discussed at the CBD COP 15 in China, offering a novel view on the “new deal for nature and people”.
