活动地点:
Paris, France

UNESCO and the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) will launch their co-publication entitled “Addressing Anti-Semitism through Education - Guidelines for Policymakers” in the presence of UNESCO Director General and ODIHR Director. The launch will be followed by a panel discussion on the role of education in the prevention of anti-Semitism.

The new policy guidelines on anti-Semitism were developed in cooperation with the OSCE in the context of UNESCO’s activities to prevent violent extremism through education. The publication suggests concrete ways to address anti-Semitism in and through education, in a human rights framework, and provides guidance to ensure that education systems build the resilience of young people to anti-Semitic ideas and all forms of intolerance and discrimination.

The launch event will be opened by UNESCO Director General, Audrey Azoulay, and Ingibjörg Sólrún Gísladóttir, Director of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR). It will feature testimonies of contemporary anti-Semitism, provided by the USC Shoah Foundation UNESCO Chair on Genocide education. Following the launch, journalist Elizabeth Tchoungui will moderate a panel discussion on the theme “How can policymakers ensure an effective role for education in addressing anti-Semitism?” The panel discussion will bring together young change makers and leaders, including Mina Abdelmalak, Arab Audience Outreach Specialist at the ‎United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, Johanna Barasz, Deputy Delegate of the French Inter-Ministerial Delegation on Combatting Racism, anti-Semitism and anti-LGBT hate, Alina Bricman, President of the European Union of Jewish Students, Jeremiah Ellis, Founder of the World Mosaic Project and member of the Canadian Commission for UNESCO’s Youth Advisory Group and Igor Ujhazi, Coordinator for combatting anti-Semitism at the World Jewish Congress.
