Help us to identify best practices in socio-emotional education in Latin America and the Caribbean

  • The call is open to all countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. Submissions will be received until March 29, 2019.

 

 

27 February 2019 -The Regional Bureau for Education in Latin America and the Caribbean (OREALC/UNESCO Santiago) invites ministries of education, local governments, schools and civil society movements and organizations in Latin America and the Caribbean to submit their experiences with the development of policies or practices designed to strengthen socio-emotional learning in educational communities.

 

 

The information will be used to build a collaborative, open regional map of such experiences in order to allow for research, networking and horizontal learning among individuals who work on this issue. These initiatives can serve as references and inspiration for the design or improvement of strategies that promote comprehensive education of young people and adults.

 

This call, led by UNESCO, is being developed in alliance with Fundación Súmate, part of Hogar de Cristo (Chile), an entity that works to guarantee the right to complete one’s education and continuous education of children and young people who live in conditions of poverty and exclusion.

 

Why build an online map of meaningful practices in socio-emotional education?

 

The purpose of this effort is to meet the increasing demand for more and better information and to remedy the lack of such practices and descriptions that would allow others to understand and learn from them. Creating an open map also allows for the exchange of experiences and the creation of networks designed to improve work in the field of education and learn from and with others.

 

“While many educational institutions are developing training strategies in this field, making new practices available and interacting with key stakeholders allows for the discovery of new approaches and the collaborative creation of knowledge. OREALC/UNESCO Santiago will gather these practices, analyze them and identify trends and unique attributes that favor the promotion of approaches to addressing them in different contexts,” explains Cecilia Barbieri, Senior Education Specialist at the Regional Bureau for Education in Latin America and the Caribbean.
