The Assembly of the Latin American and Caribbean Coalition against Racism, Discrimination and Xenophobia will be organized in Córdoba, Argentina, on 30 November 2017. The Assembly will be preceded, on 29 November 29, by the Seminar of Human Mobility, where the draft of the "Guide: Addressing international human mobility towards the SDGs" will be presented. This is a practical guide for local governments in Latin America and the Caribbean, presented by the CIPDH, UNESCO Montevideo and the Coalition. It is an open event where local mayors and officials of human rights and social development will also participate.

Both events will gather mayors and high officials from different cities in the region working in the fields of human rights and social development. The activities will be carried out within the framework of the Mercocities Summit.

Within the framework of UNESCO’s initiative to create an International Coalition of Inclusive and Sustainable Cities, the regional Latin American and Caribbean coalition was launched on 25-27 October 2006 in Montevideo, Uruguay, on the occasion of the Forum of Ibero-American mayors held in Montevideo just ahead of the Summit of Heads of State and Government.

Montevideo has taken on the role of “lead city” for the region and has since the beginning of this initiative played an active part in its coordination and organization.
