National Indigenous Youth Workshop on Education Advocacy and Global Citizenship Education

This workshop is organised by the Asia South Pacific Association for Basic and Adult Education (ASPBAE) and supported by the UN Secretary General's Global Education First Initiative. This workshop will bring together Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander young people to share their perspective, experiences and ideas on contemporary education issues occurring at the national and international level. A main focus of this workshop will be to discuss and develop strategies to advocate the views of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander youth on education. Key topics will include: - Indigenous education in Australia - Global Citizenship Education - Education for Sustainable Development - UN Sustainable Development Goals (Emphasis on Goal 4) - Introduction to human rights and the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People - Youth Advocacy Who should apply? Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander People who: - Are between 18-25 years of age - Are passionate about education - Are willing to learn and share with the group - Are open to collaboration after the workshop
