Second National Capacity Building Workshop on Education Statistics and SDG 4 Indicators in Mongolia

The Second National Capacity Building Workshop on Education Statistics and SDG 4 Indicators will be held from 28-30 May 2018 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The workshop is organized by the Mongolian National Commission for UNESCO, Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sport Mongolia, UNICEF Country Office in Mongolia and UNESCO Beijing Cluster Office.
The main aim of the second workshop is to deepen the localization process and strengthen monitoring and evaluation and implementation of SDG 4 and its related targets and indicators in Mongolia. The workshop will sharpen the focus in developing national indicators aligned to global SDG 4 indicators. The workshop shall also focus on SDG4.7 Indicators and related targets. The workshop aims to enhance national institutional capacity to develop national indicators for SDG4 targets and discuss the challenge and issues of alignment with global SDG4 Indicators and targets.
The expected results of the capacity building workshop is to strengthen capacity and improve overall timeliness, completeness and accuracy of the education data for Mongolia to develop national education policy, education sector master plan and contribute to the monitoring, evaluation and reporting.
The second workshop will bring together 50 education officials, policy makers, experts and statistical personnel from both national and district levels. At national level, the workshop will have representation of the different actors with responsibilities on the management and production of statistics, education data and indicators that report to UNESCO and international institutions. The local level participants are key to providing the critical and accurate data to National Institutions responsible for education data. Their participation is important to ensure the quality improvement of data collected from the local areas in Mongolia.
