This seminar provides an overview of opportunities that can arise from teaching about the Holocaust and genocides in diverse cultural contexts, with special emphasis on Latin American countries. Educational policies that deal with historical events and experiences of the past are highly controversial, as they raise interpretations of what happened that are disputed by various social actors. It is precisely education about the Holocaust and genocides that makes it easier to relate to difficult pasts from external experiences that avoid an open dispute about the facts of violence, noting that from a universal perspective it is possible to draw lessons for particular realities.

The seminar is aimed at teachers, education professionals and the general public interested in strengthening their knowledge of Holocaust and genocide education in Latin America for the promotion of peace and global citizenship. Attendance to the entire seminar will be certified through a registration process and will be carried out online.
