The UK COP presidency, Italy and UNESCO co-organize a joint meeting of Ministers of Education and Ministers of Environment/Ministers responsible for addressing Climate Change. The event will be part of the UN Climate Change Conference COP 26 and organized in collaboration with youth partners including MOCK COP and Youth4Climates delegates and the support of other partner organizations.

The joint ministerial event aims at strengthening the role of education and learning in the fight against climate change and will highlight the need to enhance cross-sectoral and inter-governmental collaboration in this effort. On the occasion of the event, governmental pledges to enhance climate education will be solicited.

This event will build upon the Berlin Declaration on ESD, the Catania Declaration of G20 Ministers of Education, The Ministerial Roundtable on Climate Change and Education as part of the Global Education Summit 2020 in London and the Pre-COP Youth4Climate event in Milan. It builds on UNESCO’s long-standing cooperation with UNFCCC on enhancing Climate Change Education as part of the COP process.

The Ministers of Education and Environment from UK and Italy as well as ADG/ED would be present on site together with selected Ministers of Education and Ministers of Environments/Ministers responsible for addressing Climate Change from selected countries from all regions invited as panellists. Countries not participating on site will be invited to participate through pre-recorded video pledges.

Together for Tomorrow”  will take place on 5 November, 4 pm to 5.30 pm, in the Blue Zone, and will be open to those who have tickets to the area. Those following from around the world can watch the livestream.
