A free session, for UK schools to discover how embracing Fairtrade school uniform can support global citizenship education at your school.
The Event will be hosted by Andy Ashcroft, the co-founder and Managing Director of Koolskools. Andy will do an introductory, scene-setting talk (and short video showing) on the Koolskools Fairtrade/organic cotton supply chain. He will also describe how Koolskools unique Fairtrade educational partnerships with their existing and prospective client schools work.
The keynote speaker will be Mr Sreeranga Rajan (known as “Ranga”), CEO of their Fairtrade-licensed factory, Dibella, in India. Ranga will share his thoughts on being a key manufacturing part of a Fairtrade supply chain. He will describe some of the work that Chetna Organic - the umbrella organisation working with the marginalised cotton farmers from whom the factory sources its Fairtrade cotton - are doing to educate the farmers on the impact of climate change, and to develop methods of coping and combatting it.
The new “Fairtrade School Uniform Teachers and Students Forum” (FUTSF) will also be launched at the Event. The FUTSF is designed to promote ideas on how to raise awareness of the benefits of embracing Fairtrade uniform in UK schools. About half a dozen teacher members of the new Forum and their students will also be offering mini-presentations on what Fairtrade uniform means to them, and what they have learnt about Climate Change through their Fairtrade work. Some of these presentations will include short videos made by their students.
There will also be time to ask questions thorughout the event.
